Liver Blood Pool(Hemangioma)

Scintigraphy has been used to diagnose cavernous hemangiomas.

Preparation

  • No preparation required.
  • The test involves labeling your red blood cells (RBCs) with a radioactive material. To label your blood you are given two injections 20 to 30 minutes apart. The first injection prepares your blood for the radioactive material. The second injection is a small amount of the labeled radioactive material that will allow us to take images of the blood distribution in your body.

  • Imaging commences immediately after injection of the labeled red blood cells. Another set of images will be taken about 2 to 3 hours later.
